I believe softball is, a life learning sport

Hi, my name is Hailey Burns. I first played baseball before softball. Honestly I did not want to play softball at all.  My dad would keep on trying to convince me to play softball, as he kept telling me, “Just try it for one season, and if you don’t like it then you can go back to baseball.” As I was so dedicated to baseball, I thought I would never in my entire life play softball.

When I was six years old, I started 8U softball with Ramona Girls Softball. As I kept getting more and more involved, I started to feel “the love of the game.” After three All Star seasons with the Ramona Girls Softball team, my family and I felt that we could take it to the next level, travel ball. My first travel ball team was the Factory 10U Black.

I love and have so much passion for softball because it doesn’t just teach “softball.” I believe softball is, a life learning sport. It teaches you to work with others, become a team, have your own responsibilities, pick up others, try hard, never give up, and so much more. Softball introduces you to teammates who become lifelong friends.

Some people I look up to in life are: Chip Bennett, Jennie Finch, Lindsay Gorman, Sierra Romero, Cristina Byrne, Sarah Byrne, and these are only a few! All of these people have one thing in common: They all work so hard, they work for what they want.

Some fun facts about me: I am very social, I love teaching others/coaching, doing watersports, photography,  going to the beach, surfing, and I am in love with bulldogs.

I joined the Mavericks team because I feel that the coaches will help me reach the success that I want to achieve. As well as the coaches and my teammates will be brought into my life as family, and I am all about family. I love the Mavericks.

Bye,

Hailey Burns, “Mighty Mouse” #4
